VEX IQ Robotics Event Hosted at Sage Park Middle School

On Saturday, January 21, 2023, Sage Park TSA hosted its 3rd VEX IQ robotics event and competed in their second competition this robotics season. The students brought 6 robots for the competition this year. They competed against 8 other schools with a total of 50 different robots in the competition. 

Shout out to the following Sage Park Students who competed: 

  • 32868A- Brett Fanguillo, Aiden Christensen, Andrew Nesheiwat, and Edward Glidden

  • 32868B- Ameerah Elarabi, Lilian Fangiullo, Brennan Riley, and Griffin Sasportas

  • 32868C-Jhayden Morrison, David Damas, and  Ashton Brown 

  • 32868D- 32868D- Sophia Mancino, Brianna Hoagland, Thatcher Maddeaux and Ella Kemp

  • 32868E- Daniel Garcia, Liam Vallely, and Marc Quiterio

  • 32868F- Jonathan Braithewrite, Yusef Khan, and Omari Wright


The students participated in the teamwork challenge and skills challenge. 

In the teamwork challenge is when the students are paired in 6 total matches throughout the day with various teams competing for a total score. During qualifying teamwork challenge matches 32868E placed 11th with an average match score of 43 points, 32868B placed 22nd with an average match total of 35 points, 32868A placed 28th with an average match score of 31 points, 32868C placed 29th with an average match score of 31 points, 32868F placed 37th with an average match score of 28 points,and 32868D placed 44th with an average match score of 20 points.


SPMS compete at the VEX IQ.  Robotics Event

During the skills challenge, the students are to compete in drivers skills which is the drivers working on the field by themselves for an individual score, and programming skills is the students must run a program for a total number score.  During skills matches 32868E placed 10th with a driver high score of 39 points, 32868A placed 12th with a high score of 37 points, 32868D placed 26th with a high score of 19 points, 32868F placed 24th with a high score of 2 points, 32868C placed 32nd with a high score of 11 points, and 32868B placed 34th with a high score of 11 points. 

During the final matches, Sage park came in 5th place with team 32868E with a match total score of 45 points.

During the award ceremony sage park received the Judges award for 32868A. Congratulations to Brett Fanguillo, Aiden Christensen, Andrew Nesheiwat, and Edward Glidden who persevered and worked through their struggles in a positive manner throughout the day!

Lastly, A special shout-out also goes to Windsor high TSA students, who helped with resetting the fields throughout the day. 

Also, an extra special thank you and shout out to all the Windsor staff members including teachers, office staff, custodial staff, cafeteria staff, IT staff and more, TSA parents, and the students for making our 2nd competition a successful event!
