NASA HUNCH

We are elated to announce that one of our WHS Culinary classes, under the direction of Ms. Kathleen Taranto,  has made it to regionals for the NASA Culinary HUNCH Challenge!

The HUNCH mission is to empower and inspire students through a Project Based Learning program where high school students learn 21st-century skills and have the opportunity to launch their careers through participation in the design and fabrication of real-world valued products for NASA.

Nicholas Dennis putting the final touches on the dish.

This year the theme was to create healthy ethnic soups/stews for the astronauts to have as delicacies for their trip into outer space. The food is prepared differently because of microgravity making food taste different when in outer space. The soup that was entered into the competition is Jazmine Ellis' Chinese Steak Mushroom Noodle Soup! It met all of the nutritional requirements NASA has requested. The group will be competing in New Jersey on February 27th, 2023.  Join us as we wish them luck!

Here is our school's lineup for this years' NASA Hunch challenge:
