MookAMilli set off the energy for the SPMS Black History Month Celebration.

At Sage Park Middle School (SPMS), every corner resonates with the spirit of celebration, especially during Black History Month. This February, our school community came together to honor and embrace the rich heritage and contributions of Black Americans. The event was not just a commemoration; it was a vibrant testament to the diversity and talent that thrives within our hallways.

Led by the passionate guidance of Mrs. Jorgensen and supported by dedicated staff, SPMS students rose to the occasion with confidence and determination. The Black History Celebration was a culmination of weeks of preparation, where students immersed themselves in learning about the significant figures and events that have shaped history.

The festivities kicked off with an electrifying performance by MookAMilli, who transported the audience to the heart of West Africa with mesmerizing drum beats. As the rhythms echoed through the auditorium, students and teachers alike couldn't help but sway to the music, feeling the pulse of the continent's rich cultural heritage.

But the celebration didn't stop there. Our middle school Jazz Ensemble took center stage, guiding us through the soulful melodies of the blues. With each note, they painted a vivid picture of resilience and creativity, paying homage to the African American musicians who pioneered this genre.

One of the highlights of the event was the student step drill performance—a true display of teamwork, precision, and artistry. As they moved in perfect synchrony, their synchronized steps echoed the unity and strength found within our school community.

At Sage Park classrooms thrive with a rich tapestry of culture and vibrant energy. The Black History Celebration was a testament to this diversity, showcasing the talents and passions of our students.

As the event came to a close, the auditorium was filled with applause and a sense of pride. Through music, dance, and storytelling, we honored the past while looking toward a future filled with hope and possibility. The Black History Celebration at SPMS was not just a one-time event; it was a catalyst for continued learning, understanding, and appreciation of Black history and culture throughout the year.
